STOP RACISMO BY PROF. SUELI TARTARELLI LOPES SUPPORTED BY PROF. TATIANE MARQUES DA SILVA – EMEF TAMANDARÉ, SÃO PAULO – SP BRAZIL
How did it start?
The idea for the project began during a class (5th and 6th grades) in which the topic of Racism was being discussed. Realizing the great interest shown by the students, a didactic sequence with research on the subject emerged.
After the students carried out the research, we decided to transform the subject into a project with posters, a panel with various hairstyles to show black beauty, and a podcast entitled BLACKCAST with the students expressing how much racism affects people.
Results after carrying out the project:
•Improvement in more respectful relationships inside and outside the school and a noticeable decrease in the use of racist phrases or words.
•Understanding of African origins and their struggle.
•Understanding structural racism in society and the importance of building a free, fair, and supportive society.
•Increased acceptance of individual identity.
•Other actions that encouraged the school to develop anti-racist projects emerged, keeping the issue on the agenda.
•Actions related to differences gained visibility and spaces for discussing the topic.
•Testimonials of many racist situations they experienced or witnessed daily inside and outside of school.
•Guidance toward more dialogue and awareness among everyone involved in the school environment.
